WO1 Navy Korena James joined Cuddles following the birth of her son, Theo, who was born unexpectedly at just 27 weeks, weighing 2lbs. After a challenging nine weeks in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), during which time the family faced many uncertainties, they were finally able to take Theo home.

In 2018, Korena's daughter, Xanthe, arrived slightly early and also spent a few days in SCBU while she adjusted to life outside the womb.

Korena remains deeply committed to Cuddles and is incredibly grateful for the care her children received. She says: 

“They saved my son's and daughter's lives – I will always be thankful for the care they received. Today, they are both thriving!”

RSCN Angela Hannah has worked on the Neonatal Unit at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd since January 2007 and is passionate about supporting babies and their families throughout their neonatal journey. As the FiCare Lead Nurse, she champions family involvement and partnership in care, helping to ensure families feel supported and involved every step of the way. 

Angela has worked closely with Cuddles as the unit’s link nurse since 2011 and became a trustee in 2019. Her experience has given her a strong understanding of the challenges neonatal families face and the positive difference Cuddles can make during such an emotional and challenging time.
